I'm Sketchnoting the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin!
On Friday, April 25th, I'll travel to Green Bay, Wisconsin, to observe quirky NFL fans and visually capture a once-in-a-lifetime event as a set of travel sketchnotes.
When I heard the 2025 NFL Draft would come to Green Bay, Wisconsin, I knew it was a once-in-a-lifetime chance to do something unique: create live sketchnotes at a quirky event from the perspective of a Green Bay Packers fan.
Travel Sketchnotes + Football Sketchnotes = Green Bay NFL Draft Sketchnote Experience
I have a history of experimenting with sketchnote experiences of travel, food, and football, but they’ve typically been created separately.
For example, here are travel sketchnotes from a trip to New York City in 2014:
Here are sketchnotes from my travels to SXSW Interactive in 2010, where I started capturing the quirkiness of Austin, Texas, surrounding the festival:
Here are sketchnotes from a Packers vs. Bears game in 2019 I captured while watching the game live on TV (what a fantastic game it was, too):
Here’s a sketchnote of Super Bowl LIV, later that same season with color:
The closest expeeriment to what I plan to do is this sketchnote from my visit to see a Falcons vs. Packers game at Lambeau Field in Green Bay. I focused on everything around the game from seats to food and drink instead of the game itself:
My goal is to use a sketchnote style to create a visual document I can share here when I return from Green Bay. I’m excited to see what happens!

Tools for the road
For this sketchnoting challenge, I’ll bring a Sketchnote Ideabook, a mechanical pencil and kneaded eraser, black gel pens, a pocket brush pen, and selected color markers.
This will be minimal enough for me to capture a one-day NFL Draft perspective, with an emphasis on Lambeau Field and Green Bay’s influence on the Draft.
Here’s the Sketchnote Ideabook with a sketchnote I created from a live Milwaukee Brewer’s game that has a bit of color. This feels like the right way to go:
Follow along!
I will be posting from the road on Substack Notes so follow me there to see in-progress sketchnotes, and photos of my experience along the way.
I’ll post here with all of the sketchnote pages from my sketchbook, photos, and stories so you can experience it for yourself.
If you’re at the NFL Draft in Green Bay, reach out and let’s meet up!
Go Pack Go!
