What is Sketchnote Lab?

Sketchnote Lab is where Mike Rohde (that’s me) guides people like you on integrating sketchnotes and visual thinking into your everyday life to get things done.

I love guiding people like you to expand their visual thinking skills by using sketchnoting to think, explore ideas, solve problems, and communicate with others. Sketchnote Lab provides a place for me to write and show you how to do it.

Why Subscribe?

The best way to integrate sketchnoting into your life is by using sketchnoting techniques to solve real-world problems.

Having taught thousands of people to sketchnote, I’ve created this dedicated space called Sketchnote Lab to bridge the gap between sketchnoting theory and practice. Being part of this community means I can help you integrate sketchnoting into your everyday life, move things forward, and get things done.

Who is Mike Rohde?

Mike Rohde is an author, illustrator, designer, and teacher who coined the term sketchnotes in 2006 after running experiments with visual notetaking.

What are Sketchnotes?

Sketchnotes are rich visual notes created from a mix of handwriting, drawings, hand-lettering, shapes, and visual elements like arrows, boxes, and lines.

Sketchnotes don't require special drawing skills but require you to listen and visually synthesize and summarize ideas using writing and drawing.

What started as a better way to capture notes at conferences and meetings has become a phenomenon, complete with the best-selling book The Sketchnote Handbook and The Sketchnote Workbook.

Mike teaches his straightforward approach to visual thinking worldwide at in-person and online workshops.

He is well-known for his illustration work on bestselling books like REWORK, REMOTE, $100 Startup, The Culture Playbook, and Honest SEO.

He is the founder of the Sketchnote Army and host of the Sketchnote Army Podcast.

Sketchnote Lab is built on Substack.com.
